Your skincare professional will select the appropriate treatment depth based on your individual needs and will thinly apply topical gel to the area of the skin to be treated. A sterile needle tip containing 12 micro-needles will be attached to the Eclipse Micropen™. In a single motion, the pen will be pressed gently against your skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area is covered. Depending on the size of the area to be treated, you can expect the procedure to take 15-30 minutes.
While some areas are more sensitive than others, the hydrating gel makes the treatment more tolerable and the speed of the reciprocating needle reduces discomfort. Most patients liken the feeling to a piece of light sandpaper being moved across the skin.
Immediately following the treatment you will notice your skin appears bright red. On average, it will take 2 to 4 days for the redness to leave, but some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours. The healing time will depend on the number of passes your skincare professional has performed as well as the depth of the needles used.
