Evaluation and Management of Blepharoptosis

Educates surgeons on how to evaluate and manage a drooping of the eyelid that obstructs vision, called Blepharoptosis.

The Lacrimal System: Diagnosis, Management, and Surgery, Second Edition:

Educates surgeons on how to diagnose, manage and operate on the Lacrimal System, which is responsible for the thin layer of tears that continually cover the eyes.

My mission is to bring a smile to my patient’s faces whenever they look in the mirror.

I specialize in restoring beauty and function to the face and eyes. This includes eyelid and facial plastic surgeries. Our team is experts at fixing beauty issues that can arise with age, or from a medical condition, such as drooping eyelids, skin cancer removal, turned in eyelids, or turned out eyelids.

I also specialize in cosmetic surgeries that make you look younger, and more vibrant, and attractive. This includes procedures like brow lifts, eyelid lifts, cheek implants, and cheek lifts.

Our team understands that more invasive surgeries aren’t for everyone. If you aren’t a candidate for facial surgery, or prefer non-surgical options, my team and I can help you look your best by using the best less invasive options such as injections and fillers.

The journey to get to where I am now has included a lot of training. I’ve been practicing medicine for over 20 years, which includes a lot of hours in libraries and in the operating room. I started at Brooklyn College for my undergraduate degree, and then attended medical school at Albany Medical College, followed by internal medicine training at the Staten Island University Hospital.

It wasn’t until I was accepted into the Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, NY for my ophthalmology residency that I fell in love with facial surgery. This is where my passion for face and eye surgery started. It was at the Nassau County Medical Center that I applied for advanced training in oculoplastic orbital surgery and near-ophthalmology, where I rigorously studied surgical procedures and how nerves control and monitor the eyes.

During this training, I performed my first eye surgery and realized the impact a facial reconstruction can have on someone’s entire life. I believe that my training will never be fully complete and I will continue to learn and educate myself. That’s why I am currently a fellow at the American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American College of Surgeons.

I’ve performed thousands of cosmetic and corrective surgeries in my career. This includes thousands of facelifts, cheek lifts, brow lifts, eyelid lifts, ptosis corrections, orbit reconstructions, ectropion repair, entropion repair, and much more.

Many people don’t realize that being able to operate at a hospital is a vital step of being a doctor. While most of the procedures I perform are not done in a hospital, hospitals need to carefully review each surgeon that they allow to operate. If a surgeon is approved to operate at a hospital, it means that the quality of their work and their level of excellence have been carefully considered and approved.

I am approved to operate at two major hospitals- one is the Rush University Medical Center, where I am the Section Director of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the other is the NorthShore University Health System, as an Attending Physician.

Absolutely. Training other doctors has helped me serve my patients in many ways, since I learn a vast amount through teaching. I currently teach in-person to residents at the Rush University Medical Center and NorthShore University Health System. I have also written two textbooks to help future surgeons learn from my experiences, and have published over 50 academic articles in the field of facial and eye surgery.
